  18. WinNET Mail (TM) is a Windows 3.0/3.1 application for
  19. sending and receiving Electronic Mail with the world-wide
  20. Internet and Usenet networks using just your Windows system
  21. and a modem.  The connection with the Internet and Usenet
  22. is provided through Computer Witchcraft's computer
  23. system providing WinNET (SM) service.

  25. COSTS OF USING WinNET MAIL
  26.  
  27. The WinNET Mail software is provided to you free of charge
  28. for the purpose of connecting with the WinNET system.  The
  29. WinNET system is your connection with the Internet and Usenet
  30. networks and usage is billed to you on a connect time
  31. basis.  The WinNET connect time charges are billed at the
  32. rate of 
  33.  
  34.                 $8.00 per hour
  35.  
  36. with a monthly minimum of 
  37.  
  38.                 $9.95 per month.
  39.  
  40. There is a per account minimum charge of $9.95.  Accounts
  41. created and then ended shortly thereafter will be billed at
  42. minimum $9.95.
  43.  
  44. Unlike many on-line services and bulletin boards, you are
  45. only connected to WinNET for just long enough to send or
  46. receive any pending E-Mail at speeds as fast as your modem
  47. will go.  This results in connection times of typically 1 to
  48. just a few minutes.  In our experience, customers average
  49. 1.25 hours of connect time per month or just $10.00 in
  50. charges. See TERMS.TXT for full details.

  52. SETTING UP WinNET MAIL ON YOUR SYSTEM
  53.  
  54. STEP 1.  From the Windows program manager File menu, Run
  55. the SETUP.EXE program supplied with the WinNET distribution.
  56. Use the More Information button to get more information on
  57. each screen. 
  58.  
  59. STEP 2.  Run the CWI Account Setup program (ACCOUNT.EXE).
  60. This will ask you for billing and credit card information.
  61. The program will call the Computer Witchcraft WinNET server
  62. and submit your account request.  After a one minute
  63. pause, the program will call back to verify that the
  64. account was accepted.
  65.  
  66. All account requests will be accepted unless the System
  67. Name that you choose under SETUP is already taken by
  68. another WinNET customer.  If the account request is not
  69. successful, you will need to re-run SETUP, select a different
  70. System Name, and re-run the account program.
  71.  
  72. PROBLEMS WITH WinNET SETUP
  73.  
  74. The most likely source of problems that you may have with
  75. WinNET Mail is the SETUP Communications Parameters:
  76.  
  77.     1.  Make sure that the COM port is set to the port that
  78.         your modem uses. 
  79.  
  80.     2.  Make sure that the interface speed it not set faster
  81.         than your modem can handle.
  82.  
  83.     3.  Verify that the telephone number being dialed will
  84.         work correctly from your facility and area.

  86.         The telephone number of the WinNET server is:

  90.         Which is located in San Francisco, California,
  91.         U.S.A.  If you are local to San Francisco, use
  92.         simply 752-9363.  You may also need to add digits
  93.         to obtain an outside line or for credit card
  94.         dialing.

  96. You can verify that these settings work for your system by
  97. using the Windows Terminal program.  You can also check that
  98. the modem strings supplied on the Communications Parameters
  99. screen work with you modem as well.

  106. DISTRIBUTION OF WinNET MAIL (TM)

  108. COMPUTER WITCHCRAFT, INC., UNCONDITIONALLY RETAINS ALL
  109. RIGHTS PURSUANT TO THE COPYRIGHT LAWS OF THE UNITED STATES.

  111. That said, we very much encourage distribution of this
  112. product, under the following conditions:
  113.  
  114. 1.  Any person serving as a distributor of WinNET Mail (TM)
  115.     must retain exactly the original form of the    
  116.     Computer Witchcraft, Inc., distribution by including
  117.     ALL files in unmodified condition. 
  118.

  120.     Mail (TM) distribution:

  132. 2.  Owners or operators of Electronic Bulletin Boards
  133.     (EBB's), such as CompuServe, may acquire or accept, and
  134.     then distribute copies of WinNET Mail (TM) through 
  135.     their EBB service, subject to the conditions above, and
  136.     may further do so in the context of charging subscribers
  137.     to their services a general fee for belonging to the
  138.     membership of the service, and/or for time on-line, as
  139.     long as these charges are not specifically related to
  140.     overt sale of the WinNET Mail (TM) product.  This should
  141.     in no way be construed as relinquishment, by Computer
  142.     Witchcraft, Inc., of its copyright protection and sole
  143.     ownership of WinNET Mail (TM). 
  144.  
  145. 3.  Persons wishing to contact Computer Witchcraft, Inc.,
  146.     for the purpose of negotiating limited distribution
  147.     rights for WinNET Mail (TM) should review the file
  148.     VENDOR.TXT, included with this distribution, which
  149.     contains an application form that distributors may use
  150.     to initiate the process. 
  151.  
  152. 4.  Any persons possessing a bona fide copy of WinNET Mail
  153.     (TM) as originally distributed by Computer
  154.     Witchcraft, Inc., may freely copy and distribute the
  155.     product to whomever they like, as long as exactly the
  156.     original form of the distribution is retained, by
  157.     including ALL files, in unmodified condition, 
  158.     especially but not limited to all documentation files,
  159.     as long as they assess no fees beyond those required for
  160.     materials needed in distributing the product, i.e.,
  161.     matching exactly the cost of floppy disks, mailing
  162.     materials and costs, or long-distance phone charges
  163.     relevant to electronic distribution. 
  164.   
  165. 5.  With the exceptions of EBB operators, under the
  166.     conditions described above, and that of persons entering
  167.     into written contractual distribution agreements with
  168.     Computer Witchcraft, Inc., other persons engaged in the
  169.     distribution of software for profit ARE EXPLICITLY    
  170.     PROHIBITED from marketing or selling, in any form, any
  171.     files or parts of files, or modified versions of files,
  172.     that are part of Computer Witchcraft's distribution.
  173.  
  174. 6.  Developers of software products who incorporate ANY
  175.     portion of the binary portions of the author's product,
  176.     or who copy features or aspects of the user-interface of
  177.     the product subject to protection by the laws of 
  178.     copyright, SHALL BE PROSECUTED, unless they have the  
  179.     express, written permission of Computer Witchcraft,
  180.     Inc., to do so.
